1850s Hand Colored Stone Lithographs of Birds of the West Western Nighthawk
This squat brown bird identified by John Cassin is a Western Nighthawk, Chordeiles henryi. On the upper margin of the print it says "U.S.P.R.R. Exp & Surveys -- 38th 39th 41st Parallels" and "Birds --- Plate XVII." Below is the lithograph as it will come to you matted and in a protective clear plastic sleeve. There are a few spots scattered in the background as shown in the pictures.
