Lord Justice Lindley

"Partnership"

This original Vanity Fair lithograph by Sir Leslie Ward (signed "Spy") is of Lord Justice Lindley shown sitting on the bench with law books. The title under the print says "Partnership." Jehu Junior's biography of Judge Lindley notes that he wrote a book on the Law of Partnership, which explains that reference. He says Judge Lindley's success in his profession were not a result of political connections or his speaking ability "for he had no brilliance as an orator" but rather,

"Capacity for the acquirement of legal knowledge, common-sense application of it when acquired, and industry have made him what he is."

We all wish that such were always the qualifications of those who sit on the bench.

The print comes with full borders and has one repaired edge tear that does not affect the image and will not be seen when the print is matted. The print will come with the full biography and commentary by Jehu Junior that was issued when the print was published in 1890.
