Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Autographed Photograph

This is an official Supreme Court photograph of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg signed my her at the bottom and with a personalized greeting to "Carrie" above the picture. Justice Ginsburg was nominated by President William Clinton on June 14, 1993 after thirteen years on the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia . A former chief litigator of the ACLU's women's rights project and law school professor, Ginsburg has the highest liberal rating on the court. She replaced Justice Byron White who was a dissenter in the two major pro-abortion cases, Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, but even though she was a sure vote to uphold pro-abortion precedents, no clamor was raised at her confirmation hearings about the need to maintain ideological balance on the Supreme Court and she was easily confirmed by a vote of 96 to 3.

Justice Ginsburg has become most outspoken in recent years as an advocate for the use and citation of foreign law in Supreme Court decisions, including those interpreting the United States Constitution (See., e.g. Roper v. Simmons).
