1758 through 1773 full leather set of Annual Registers

This is a nice full leather set that covers the period from the start of the publication of the Annual Register in 1758 during the French and Indian War and concludes on the eve of the American Revolution. It covers the entire period when Edmund Burke was its editor and wrote most of articles and book reviews. The battle of conservative versus liberal and revolutionary are first seen in Burke's commentaries on the works of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the conflicts over rights that would become the American Revolution are played out for the first time with regard to British imposition of stamp and tea taxes on the American colonies. It includes the 1772 volume with the early publication of the poem by the American female slave poet Phyllis Wheatley. The contents are more fully set out in the descriptions of individual volumes.

Below are more pictures of the condition of this attractive set of books.

The bindings and the text blocks are all tight and there is usual wear to the corners and extremities. There are no library stamps or any markings or writing that we could find. One of the title labels on the spine (for 1762) is missing but all volume numbers, from 1 to 16, are present.
